Join Alissa York for a conversation about her compelling new work. Far Cry, is not only the title of York’s latest book, but it is the site of the novel. The Far Cry Cannery on the desolate northwest coast of 1922 British Columbia, is where father-figure Ander Viken tells his story to 18-year-old Kit, as she tries to understand feelings of the heart. In this novel, York braids together themes of tragedy, love, desire and loss. By the Lake Book Club offers six Tuesday-night events, between February and December featuring leading Canadian authors in conversation with Humber College graduates and alumni. Each in-person event includes a reading, discussion, audience Q&A and book-signing. Virtual events are subtitled live and provide online viewing and audio.
