Description

Hats on for Awareness is a local charity that raises funds to further the reach of mental health programs which enhance the lives of those living with and affected by mental illness and addictions. We believe that mental health is a vital component to overall wellness and we need to make it a priority in our personal, business and community lives. We need to raise awareness regarding these illnesses, consistently battle against the stigma they hold, and fund the research and programs to truly achieve Mental Wellness For All.
Co-founded by Benny Caringi and Enza Tiberi-Checchia in 2009, Hats on for Awareness is predominately run by volunteers, including its Board of Directors. HOA has contributed $1,000,000 toward impactful programs across the Greater Toronto Area. HOA benefactors include CAMH (Centre for Addiction and Mental Health), Canada's largest mental health and addictions teaching hospital; HRH (Humber River Hospital, Child and Adolescent Mental Health Program) one of Canada's largest regional acute care facilities; Jack.org Summit, Canada's only national student-led mental health innovation summit; and, What's Up Walk In Clinics, which offer free services for youth and families with no appointment.
