Description

Our Mission
Helping Haiti's mission is to provide the people of Cite Soleil, with sustainable, community-driven, development programs that focus on increasing the health, safety and well-being of the community.
Our mission is realized through several projects and programs, all centred around Cite Soleil, Port-au-Prince, one of the poorest communities in the western hemisphere. While we are physically in Cité Soleil, we walk the streets – through the good, the bad and even through the worse… meeting the citizens of Cité Soleil and getting to know them on a personal level. This approach allows us to forge ever-lasting trust and relationships with the people we’re helping.
Helping Haiti Medical Clinic
The Helping Haiti clinic building, built by Helping Haiti in 2010, is home to the Helping Haiti Medical Clinic which provides basic medical care free of charge to the people of Cité Soleil. Our clinic is open at least three days a week, and staffed by a Nurse Practitioner, Registered Nurses, and Nursing Assistant.
Helping Haiti Training Programs
The Helping Haiti clinic building is also used to run a variety of Helping Haiti's training programs. Designed to meet Helping Haiti's mission, our programs involve collaborations between Canadian volunteer instructors and locally-employed instructors. Collaboration ensures that our training material not only meets the most current standards for similar training programs or certifications in Canada, but also ensures the material and its delivery will meet the unique needs of the people of Cité Soleil. More information on some of our unique programs, such as First Aid for Peace, Infant Hygiene, Infant CPR, Basic First Aid, and Rape Defence is available from our main website - www.helpinghait.ca.
Helping Haiti Community Centre
The Helping Haiti Community Centre is currently under construction! The site, located right next to our clinic building, is the future home of a multi-purpose community centre that will include multiple classrooms to expand our offerings of training programs and a multi-purpose open area that will host a regular community market as well as some pick-up basket ball games. This safe, communal space will be dedicated to the community and its ever-changing, unique needs.Read more
