Set in 1994, nearly three decades before Taiwan legalized same-sex marriage, Chen was instrumental in producing documentaries centred on queer and gender issues, actively participating in street protests advocating for gay and lesbian equal rights. In a moving tribute, his protégé, Blue Lan, brings Chen's story to life in 'After School,' making its exclusive premiere in Toronto. Synopsis In 1994, three Taiwanese students grapple with forbidden love and evolving friendships at a strict cram school. Their lives take a transformative turn when they encounter their unconventional English teacher, Mickey, embarking on a journey of self-discovery.
