Worn by women for over 2000 years sari's fabric, shape and designs have influenced fashion throughout the world. Learn about the history of how many everyday patterns, designs and styles originated from India and made their way to the West. View a collection of saris on loan by Friends of South Asian Art Royal Ontario Musuem patron Meenakshi Sibal on the third floor of the historic Spadina Museum. Nine Yards, a short dance film by Kunal Ranchod about de-colonizing the sari blouse and petticoat will be on view. Come celebrate Diwali at Spadina this year. Toronto History Museums delivers a series of programs from November 1, 2023, to January 8, 2024, designed to embrace the spirit of light, love, joy and celebration through light-based public art activations, music, workshops, food, culture, storytelling, and events as part of the Lots of Light programming toronto.ca/lotsoflight
