Ronald McDonald House Charities South Central Ontario (RMHCSCO) formerly RMHC Hamilton is part of a network of 15 Ronald McDonald Houses across Canada. Built in 1993 and located next to McMaster Children’s Hospital, RMHCSCO is independently owned and operated by Kid’s Care Oncology Central West Ontario and is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors, managed by a small staff team and supported by a full complement of dedicated volunteers.
OUR HOUSE
RMCHSCO serves as a regional resource for hundreds of families of critically-ill children who are being treated at local hospitals. As a 41 bedroom House, RMCHSCO provides a warm, compassionate and safe home away from home for families through accommodations, programming and services. RMCHSCO strives to provide families in crisis a home to everyday moments when life is far from ordinary.
Annually, we serve more than 800 families and see over 50,000 visits from those seeking respite at our Ronald McDonald Family Room located at McMaster Children’s Hospital. We provide a home away from home to families of seriously ill children who are being treated at nearby hospitals.
Although geographically located in Hamilton, the House is the only type of community support providing this service for all families living in South Central Ontario.  RMHCSCO serves families who come from many communities in South Central Ontario including: the Greater Toronto Area, Halton Region, Niagara Region, Waterloo Region, Wellington County, Grey and Bruce counties and Brant/Haldimand/Norfolk counties.
RMHCSCO is situated directly across from McMaster Children’s Hospital, a pediatric academic health science centre serving the special and unique healthcare needs of children and youth using a family-centred model of care. McMaster Children's Hospital (MCH) has rapidly become a leader in pediatric evidence-based care, collaborative research and innovative leading edge education. The close proximity to this leading pediatric hospital allows RMHCSCO to keep families close to their sick children when they need it the most; making RMHCSCO your community’s House when you need us.
HOW YOU CAN HELP
Each year as a result of the programming, accommodations and other essential services of daily living, RMHC South Central Ontario saves families and average of $2.7 million in out-of-pocket expenses. To ensure we can continue to provide compassionate support to so many, a platform of robust and sustainable financial resources is needed. The House relies on the community to fund 80 per cent of our annual operating budget each year.
