The parish of the Nativity of the Holy Mother of God was founded in 1951 by the Ukrainians who came to Canada during the pre and postwar years. The first priest was G.Boyko. At first, before the church was build, church services were held in the old hall which was located beside the residence. The current church is relatively young - it was built in 1988 and was blessed by Bishop Boretskyi. Great contributions to help build the church were made by the Kartofel family and also family members from the Plaschansky, Kazaniwskyi, Sembay,Dmyterko,Bruch,Krivoruchko,Haras,Moroz, and many others. These people did not want to just build a temple - but rather create a special Ukrainian spiritual center for themselves and their descendants. We hoped that its unique architecture of the Church of the Nativity of the Holy Mother of God in Niagara Falls attracts interest of not only Ukrainians, but also believers of other nationalities. As it turned out we were right - the church makes an unforgettable impression those who visit it for the first time. invaluable contribution to the construction of the church was persistent good faith and dedication came from Stetsura architect from Toronto and builders from western Canada, who build this unique church without nails. Vitaly Litvin (now deceased), carved iconostas (icon wall) and painted icons. Anyone can come to the church not only to pray, but also to think about eternity and enjoy the aroma of the wooden frames of which the Church made of. Visitors can also buy delicious Ukrainian food which consist of; cabbage rolls, perogies, meat on a stick and various sweets made by the parishioners. Visitors are also allowed to park their cars and go tour the beautiful city of Niagara Falls.
