Celebrating Black History Month. Two Black Canadian musicians of Caribbean parentage, Rashaan Rori Allwood and Kathryn Patricia Cobbler present a multi-media performance of their own original compositions that reflect upon elements of the Caribbean immigrant and African diaspora experience. It will explore themes of being raised within multiple cultures and redefining beauty against a North American colonial landscape. The music includes diverse styles such as jazz, folk, contemporary, hip-hop, and classical. Melodies will be sung by the spectacular soprano Nadine Anyan, and the music will be accompanied by visuals from life in the Caribbean and in Canada, created by an academy-award nominated film crew.
