About DURHAM FAMILY COURT CLINIC
Why we do what we do:
In everything we do, DFCC is all about safe, hopeful, healthy communities.
For nearly 40 years, DFCC is known for going above and beyond for young people and families who are facing barriers to achieve their own unique success, as well as being a voice within the community and beyond for these young people to advocate for systems change.
How do we do what we do:
The way we do what we do is by delivering service excellence every day; building a culture of collaboration innovation and continuous improvement; being a great place to be for everyone; and, being recognized as a vibrant and progressive organization.
What do we do:
Often our young people and their families are isolated and voiceless, with little hope or belief that positive change is possible, so we listen to them; don’t give up on them when the going gets tough; work with them to lay the necessary building blocks to enhance their health and well-being; give them a voice to help break down barriers; and, most importantly we help them find hope and the belief in a better future.
DFCC Programs and Services
With a highly talented, dedicated and passionate Team, DFCC offers a wide-range of community-based programs and services for young people, primarily 12-25 years of age, and their families throughout Durham Region.
Our programs/services include: counselling, intensive community supports and specialized psychiatric/psychological assessments within the Youth Justice System; a collaborative on-site education program for youth who are struggling within the mainstream school system (e.g. youth in care, youth who are suspended, expelled); a violence prevention program available to grade 8 - grade 12 students in schools across Durham Region; and an outreach worker program that offers intensive intervention and one-to-one support for youth who are high risk/needs.
Fundraising:
Funds raised through DFCC’s Seeds of Hope fundraising campaign help us enhance and sustain our core programming and services for Durham Region young people and their families.Read more
