Svitanok Ukrainian Dance Society Verified listing

The Svitanok Ukrainian Dance Society strives towards professionalism in the training, performance, instruction, renewal, and promotion of Ukrainian character dance as a viable and developing art form on the Canadian dance scene.
It was established in Ottawa in 1991 with the purpose of:

- Developing Ukrainian dance as an art form in Ottawa and Canada
- Providing excellence of training in Ukrainian dance and related art forms for students of all ages, levels and backgrounds
- Performing Ukrainian dance as an art form in Canada and abroad
- Promoting Ukrainian dance as a dance form viable and relevant to the contemporary dance scene in Ottawa
- Encouraging original choreography in the Ukrainian dance genre
- Developing and training a Ukrainian dance ensemble in Ottawa
Together, the Svitanok Ukrainian Dance Ensemble and the Ottawa School of Ukrainian Dance form the Svitanok Ukrainian Dance Society.
