Description
St. Anne's Music & Drama Society presents Gilbert and Sullivan's The Gondoliers. This is the Society's 60th anniversary production at the historic St. Anne's Parish Hall. The show has full staging, costumes and orchestra. Previous productions have received rave reviews for the professional quality of a community theatre group. First premiering in 1889, The Gondoliers is the story of two newly-wed Venetian gondoliers. They learn that one of them is the king of Barataria in hiding. However, the heir married in infancy to the duke and duchess of Plaza-Toro's daughter, making one of them a bigamist. Characteristic of Gilbert & Sullivan, topsy-turvy plot twists and timeless music cumulate in the climatic reveal of the true Baratarian king!
